reBlog from connectedhealthcare.blogspot.com: Connected Health Care Blog

I found this fascinating quote today:

Below is the final proposal for health care reform issued by the DemocraticHouse of Representatives today, which SpeakerNancy Pelosiconfidently asserted she could pass by the end of the summer session. That's right, we only have about four weeks to digest, debate, amend and vote on this 1018-page piece of legislation which seeks to fundamentally redefine the rules of our nation's largest industry. Turns out "change" sucks a whole lot more than the status quo sometimes.connectedhealthcare.blogspot.com, Connected Health Care Blog, Jul 2009

Courage to be First

Courage to be First: The Journey of Mid-Columbia Medical Center Becoming the First Planetree Hospital in America was released in March by Second River Healthcare Press.

The book tells the story of MCMC’s dramatic transformation over the last two decades, beginning with the hospital’s implementation of the Planetree model of care in the early 90s. MCMC’s story was written by Dick Baltus, as told by former CEO Mark Scott, current CEO Duane Francis and many hospital employees, with Leland Kaiser, Ph.D., offering commentary after each chapter.

Courage to be First is targeted at readers in the healthcare management industry, as well as any business committed to improving customer service. Like the hospital itself, the book has received enthusiastic reviews.

B. Joseph Pine, co-author of The Experience Economy (named one of The Best 100 Business Books of All Time) wrote: “There is not a hospital in the world – or any company in the healthcare field, for that matter – that could not benefit from this enlightening book. Read how Mid-Columbia Medical Center has transformed itself into a shining light so you, too, can inspire your employees, enhance your patient experience and improve your outcomes.”

Sandy Crosby - Work @ DarfuriWomen

I wonder if you share same emotions as I had, upon reading Dr. Crosby Sondra Crosby, MD on Her Work with Darfuri Women.

This is one of many entries outlining her dedication and spirit of hope. To see outpouring from volunteer MD's lifts my spirit. Knowing there are professionals left in this fast paced 2009 who CARE and DEVOTE time without compensation.

Yet to look at the reason for their cause, and destination of women afflicted by years of abuse and sexual violence makes one very sad.

God Bless all members of the Physicians for Human Rights field team. Your giving a future to those who never have known what care and love is all about.
